R.Power Renewables has been awarded a significant €15 million (RON 74.6 million) grant by the Romanian Ministry of Energy to deploy its first large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS).
The funding, provided under Romania's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), marks a pivotal step in advancing energy storage solutions in Southeast Europe.
The system has a capacity to deliver 127 MW of power and store 254 MWh, enabling up to two hours of full charge and discharge cycles.
This state-of-the-art system is designed to support Romania's renewable energy ambitions by addressing grid stability challenges and enabling more efficient integration of renewable sources into the national grid.
