Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., celebrated the completion of its 127 MWdc Bayou Galion Solar project in Northeast Louisiana with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and guided tour.
The project, which began operations in November 2024, provides enough electricity to power 20,500 homes annually and generates significant tax revenue for the local community.
This marks Recurrent Energy’s first project in Louisiana, contributing to the state’s growing solar investments, which reached over $2 billion by the end of 2024. As part of the celebration, Recurrent Energy made a donation to the local Cotton Country Players theatre group in support of the Rose Theatre.
Local leaders, including Dorothy Ford from the Bastrop-Morehouse Chamber of Commerce and Kay King from Morehouse Economic Development Corporation, praised the project’s economic impact, highlighting job creation, revenue generation, and the diversification of energy sources. Jeffrey Clark, President of the Advanced Power Alliance, emphasized that the project strengthens Louisiana’s energy grid while providing affordable power to consumers.
Ismael Guerrero, CEO of Recurrent Energy, expressed pride in the successful completion of the $160 million investment and emphasized its role in driving local economic development and strengthening Louisiana’s energy infrastructure. The project marks a key step in Recurrent Energy’s growth in the state.
