Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has been awarded Contracts for Difference (CfD) for three solar projects in the UK, totaling 120 MWp. The projects are Gateley Moor (49.9 MWp) in Durham, Court Barton (20 MWp) in Devon, and Hessay (49.9 MWp) in York.
The CfD contracts will secure revenue for these projects for 15 years, indexed to inflation, and contribute to the UK's clean energy goals. Together, they will power over 34,000 homes and reduce CO2 emissions by about 31,000 tons annually.
The projects are set to reach commercial operation between mid-2025 and mid-2027, further strengthening the UK's energy security and job creation in local communities.
Ismael Guerrero, CEO of Recurrent Energy, expressed pride in the outcome, emphasizing the company's commitment to the UK’s renewable energy targets.
The Contracts for Difference (CfD) program, designed to support the UK’s Net Zero transition, awarded 9.6 GW of renewable energy capacity in its sixth round, reflecting strong government support with a £1.5 billion auction budget.
