RES, Norsk e-Fuel, and Prime Capital have joined forces to develop Project Alby, a large-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facility in Ånge, northern Sweden. The plant is expected to produce at least 80,000 tons of e-Fuel annually, marking Norsk e-Fuel’s expansion into Sweden.
Leveraging low-cost renewable energy in the region, the project will use Power-to-Liquid technology, converting water into hydrogen and combining it with captured CO₂ to create e-Kerosene—a sustainable alternative to fossil-based aviation fuels. The initiative aligns with the ReFuelEU Aviation regulations, supporting Europe's transition to cleaner air travel.
Norsk e-Fuel, a leader in synthetic SAF, brings expertise in e-Fuel production.
Prime Capital contributes financial strength and renewable infrastructure experience.
RES, with over 40 years in renewable energy, provides project development support.
Matilda Afzelius, CEO of RES Nordics, emphasized that the partnership strengthens the green transition and positions Ånge as a key player in sustainable energy. Jens Walzner, MD of Prime Capital, highlighted the collaboration’s role in reducing aviation emissions and accelerating Sweden’s clean energy future. Karl Hauptmeier, CEO of Norsk e-Fuel, described the project as a milestone, expanding the company’s presence in the Nordics and advancing fossil-free aviation.
Located on a 14-hectare site, Project Alby benefits from strong industrial synergies, further positioning Ånge as a hub for green hydrogen-driven industries. The initiative also receives investment support from the European Union’s InvestEU fund.
