This investment will fund the development and commissioning of a national infrastructure for renewable electricity storage in Bulgaria, with a minimum usable energy capacity of 3,000 MWh, connected to both transmission and distribution grids.
The total grant available under this procedure is BGN 1,153,939,700 (approximately €590 million). The grant can cover up to 50% of eligible costs, but not more than BGN 371,607.70 (approximately €190,000) per 1 MWh of usable energy capacity, excluding VAT. An applicant can submit multiple proposals, but the total funding for any single applicant is limited to 1/6 of the total funding available under this procedure.
Projects funded under this call must be completed and operational by March 2026, with a progress and maturity check scheduled for May 2025.
