The OranjeWind joint venture between RWE and TotalEnergies has secured an agreement with Buss Terminal Eemshaven to use the port for the assembly and construction of turbines for their 795 MW offshore wind project in the Dutch North Sea.
Buss Terminal Eemshaven will handle the offloading, storage, and pre-assembly of turbine components and inter-array cabling for the OranjeWind wind farm, which will feature 53 V236-15.0 MW turbines from Vestas. Installation work is set to begin in early 2027, with full commissioning by the end of that year. The inter-array cables will be provided by TKF and installed by DEME Offshore.
Construction of the offshore site will begin in early 2026. While cabling and turbine installation will take place in Eemshaven, monopile foundations will be transported from Sif’s Rotterdam facility. Jan De Nul will handle both the foundation installation and the wind turbine assembly.
This agreement will utilize a 35-40 hectare area at Eemshaven, supporting both the OranjeWind and Nordseecluster B projects. The OranjeWind farm, located about 53 kilometers off IJmuiden, will deliver 795 MW of power, with 760 MW grid connection capacity, leaving 35 MW to optimize connection efficiency during lower production periods.
