RWE Renewables has entered into a partnership with Masdar to jointly explore co-development of offshore wind farm.
The duo aims to explore the possibilities in different countries.
The duo signed the memorandum of understanding which was followed by the “signing of the Climate Action and Industry Accelerator Growth Pact (ESIA) between Germany and the United Arab Emirates.”
Under the agreement, “Masdar will actively explore offshore wind opportunities in Germany’s North and Upper Baltic Sea,” a report mentioned. The company aims for 10GW renewable energy production capacity by 2030.
“By leveraging our two companies’ extensive expertise in this sector, we can help other nations to meet their offshore wind targets, transition to clean energy sources, and meet their net-zero objectives,” Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar, was quoted.
Meanwhile, Markus Krebber, CEO of RWE AG, commented, “I am very pleased that we will join forces with Masdar, a known and reliable partner to RWE for years in our London Array offshore wind farm. Together we will explore the potential for widening the scope of our partnership in offshore wind to further projects.”
Since 2012, RWE and Masdar have stakes together in the 630MW London Array offshore wind farm.
