A 9.75 MW solar facility in Kostolac, Serbia, is expected to be completed by early 2025. The Petka PV project, located on 11.6 hectares of former mining land, is Elektroprivreda Srbije's (EPS) first solar venture. Construction is progressing on schedule, with solar panel installation underway and the project set to be finished by mid-February 2025.
EPS has also completed a public tender to connect the solar plant to the grid, with plans to link it by the first quarter of 2025.
Serbian Energy Minister Dubravka Đedović Handanović visited the site, emphasizing the importance of every megawatt for energy security. She highlighted the 50% growth in Serbia's energy investments this year, including collaborations with Hyundai Engineering and UGT Renewables to build six new 1 GW solar plants and 200 MW of battery storage.
Additionally, Serbia is pushing forward with plans for a 1 GW solar panel factory and 500 MW of new solar.
