Solar Proponent, a utility-scale solar and storage developer focused on the ERCOT market, has secured 1.6 GWac of power purchase agreements (PPAs) across four solar PV plants in Texas. The PPAs were finalized in December 2024.

The company, backed by EnCap Investments, Yorktown Partner, and Mercuria Energy, currently holds a portfolio of six solar-plus-storage projects totaling 2.2 GW. These projects, ranging from 165 MW to 600 MW, are expected to be commissioned between 2027 and 2029.

The two Texas-based projects, 333 MW Three Cranes and 315 MW Middlebrook, are located near Dallas, while four additional projects—Flag City (165 MW), Lunis Creek (600 MW), Charro (600 MW), and Jaboncillos (200 MW)—are planned between Houston, San Antonio, and Corpus Christi.

Cassandra Rinaldo, CEO of Solar Proponent, highlighted that these projects will help meet the growing demand in the ERCOT market and support the decarbonization efforts of its off-taker. She also noted that Texas continues to lead the U.S. in renewable energy expansion.
