Sonnedix has kicked off commercial operations of 50MW solar farm in Spain.
The company achieved the commercial operation of Sonnedix Los Frailes solar farm. The farm is located in Badajoz in southwest of Spain, which covers 111 hectares of land.
According to the company, the project is likely to produce around 102GWh annually. This is equivalent to provide power to more than 30,000 homes with clean electricity.
The project will be avoiding around 16,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
Mytilineos worked as the main EPC Contractor of the Sonnedix Los Frailes project, which was developed by Viridi RE group in collaboration with Sonnedix’s development team.
As per Sonnedix, it has over 1GW of total capacity in Spain. Out of this, 600MW is currently under operational, 60MW under construction and a development pipeline of almost 400MW.
Sonnedix chief executive officer Axel Thiemann was quoted in a statement, “Seeing this come to fruition is wonderful, especially knowing the challenges our team had to go through these past couple of years with the pandemic, supply chain concerns, and economic uncertainty.”
He further stated that the company has a strong commitment to contribute to the Spanish market for energy transition.
