Cernay-lès-Reims, France – TagEnergy is set to construct France’s largest battery energy storage system (BESS) in Cernay-lès-Reims. The 240MW/480MWh project will be five times larger than the country’s current biggest operational battery.
Financing for the project has been secured through a consortium including ABN AMRO, NORD/LB, and Caisse d'Epargne CEPAC, with Tesla on board as the EPC contractor and route-to-market service provider.
Once operational, the Cernay BESS will help stabilize the French grid, supporting the integration of renewable energy as France continues its energy transition. The storage system will improve grid resilience, manage peak demand, and enable greater reliance on renewable energy sources like wind and solar.
This project marks the beginning of TagEnergy’s expansion in France, with plans for additional solar and storage projects in 2025. With Cernay-lès-Reims located in the heart of Champagne country, TagEnergy is committed to accelerating the transition to a sustainable energy future.
