Terra Solar and Power China Join Forces for a Landmark Solar-Battery Project

Terra Solar Philippines Inc. (TSPI) has joined forces with Power Construction Corporation of China Ltd. (Power China) to execute the world’s largest integrated solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage facility through an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreement.

As reported by Manila Standard, TSPI, a subsidiary of Solar Philippines, is spearheading this landmark renewable energy initiative in Central Luzon. The project will feature a 3,500-MWp solar farm paired with a 4,500-MWh battery energy storage system, capable of providing sustainable energy to over two million homes.

MGEN Renewable Energy Inc. (MGreen), under MERALCO PowerGen Corporation, holds a majority stake in SPNEC. The project recently broke ground in Gapan, Nueva Ecija, with plans to deliver 850 MW of mid-merit power, competing directly with conventional power plants in cost and reliability.

Power China will oversee the eastern section of the project, spanning 1,505 hectares and encompassing Barangays Makabaklay, Pias, and Callos across multiple municipalities. This portion will contribute 1,050 MWp to the project’s overall capacity.

The agreement entrusts Power China with all aspects of the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction. It also includes long-term operational guarantees, maintenance protocols, and warranties to ensure reliability and sustainability. Power China brings a strong track record, having managed notable projects like the 540-MW Kauswagan and 1,320-MW Dinginin Coal-Fired Power Plants, as well as the Visayas-Mindanao Interconnection Project.

This collaboration marks a significant step in advancing renewable energy capabilities in the Philippines, solidifying its commitment to clean and sustainable power solutions.
