Tenaga Nasional Berhad(TNB) has announced its ambitious plans to generate 3,000 MW of renewable energy by 2040.
The company’s President and CEO Dato’ Indera Ir. Baharin Din shared TNB’s commitment to advance the green agenda of Malaysia. For this, the firm has focused on Large-Scale Solar Parks (LSSP), Hybrid Hydro-Floating Solar (HHFS), and co-firing hydrogen and ammonia projects.
Baharin informed that it includes 2,500 MW from innovative HHFS technology and 500 MW from LSSPs.
According to TNB, the HHFS project will be executed in four phases and likely to be completed by 2025.
As per a local report, its New Energy Division (NED) aims to generate 90 MW through LSSPs by 2025. Currently, it is actively involved in the Corporate Green Power Program.
Besides, TNB is also working together with PETRONAS and Mitsui & Chugoku to diversify energy sources. It comes at a time when TNB is on track to achieve its 8.3 GW renewable energy target by 2025.
