TotalEnergies SE, the French multi-energy group, is advancing its Ramal Sur project in Spain, seeking all necessary pre-construction and construction permits. The project will involve the installation of an 85.8-MW wind farm, a 44.72-MW solar farm, and the hybridisation of these renewable energy sources with the existing Castejon 1 thermal power plant (TPP).
TotalEnergies has submitted an application for consent, a construction permit, and environmental approval, which were recently released for public consultation in Spain’s official state gazette.
The group plans to invest over EUR 88.8 million (USD 95.6 million) in the project. This includes approximately EUR 51 million for the wind farm, EUR 18.5 million for solar panel installation, and the remainder for the interconnection infrastructure.
Located in the Navarre region, the Ramal Sur facilities will include a wind farm featuring 13 turbines, each with a capacity of 6.6 MW. The solar farm will consist of around 76,000 photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis trackers, supported by 208 inverters, each rated at 215 kVA.
These solar and wind installations will be integrated with the 424.91-MW Castejon 1 combined-cycle gas turbine plant, which is already owned by TotalEnergies.
