Vietnam's has set a goal to achieve 15-20 percent renewable energy sources in the total primary energy by 2030.
The target has been set by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade which aims to grow the rate to 25-30 percent by 2045.
The trade ministry comes up with such planning as a response to climate change and for green growth, the local media reported.
It further mentioned that “greenhouse gas emissions from the electricity production sector are to be maintained at about 42 million tons of carbon dioxide by 2050.”
Meanwhile, the government will also focus on promoting production and business models toward green growth through an action plan. For this, there will be efficient exploitation and use of natural resources and energy.
To be noted, the installed capacity of the renewables in Vietnam had reached 20,670 MW in 2021. This number accounted for 27 percent of the total energy.
Vietnam is a pioneer name in terms of renewables in Southeast Asia, while alsoranks in the top 10 countries with the highest installed solar energy capacity.
