WHA Utilities and Power Plc (WHAUP) has sealed the contract of renewable energy power plants in Thailand.
The company won the bidding with a Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme in Phase 1. This will consist of five solar power projects with a total installed capacity of 125.4 MW.
The company informed that it was selected by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to get rights to develop solar power projects.
According to Somkiat Masunthasuwun, Chief Executive Officer of WHA Utilities and Power Plc, “this is for five solar farms with an installed capacity totaling 125.4 MW, based on the proportion to equity, including three WHAUP’s wholly-owned projects with 59.8 MW capacity, and two joint venture projects, which will generate electricity at the capacity of 65.6 MW equity.”
Out of the five projects, four are regular solar farms while another is a solar farm with the Battery Energy Storage System. The solar projects are located in Ubon Ratchathani, Buriram, Ratchaburi, and Kanchanaburi provinces.
The projects are scheduled to start commercial operations in 2029-2030.
According to the company, new investment in renewable-energy power plants plans to expand the power and utilities businesses across Thailand and beyond.
“This will eventually build growth and strength for WHAUP’s business with the utilization of innovative solutions to develop products and services that cater to the needs of all target groups, including customers, communities, and society,” the company stated.
